Does the omega-3 found in fish oil help in lowering blood pressure?
Is there benefit in fish oil blood pressure treatment?
Blood pressure is a huge problem in the United States, near
epidemic and in younger and younger patients. According to the
American Heart Association, nearly 25% of the American population has
high blood pressure and hypertension. The prospect that a fish oil
blood pressure treatment might be a viable treatment for lowering
blood pressure is a wonderful thought. Using a resource that we have
available to us in the form of supplements and food could be a great
discovery.
Recently, scientific testing has shown that the omega-3 in fish
oil, DHA and EPA assist in the development and proper maintenance of
heart and brain function. They have also shown that these omega-3s
assist in controlling hypertension and high blood pressure. This
natural supplement, taken regularly, can actually lower blood pressure
and reduce the risk of hypertension. Something that is so natural and
so readily available to us may hold the key to correcting this
incredible growing problem in our elderly and our young people.
The other advantages of fish oil can only compound the reasoning
for taking this supplement as a daily part of your routine. Fish oil
containing the omega-3 DHA and EPA can reduce the risk of heart
disease, reduce the risk of stroke, ward off some types of cancer,
reduce inflammation in joints and muscles, and improve brain function.
Why would we not take the opportunity to change the way we live.
There are a variety of supplements available containing fish oil that
can be easily located at most health food and nutrition centers as
well as on the internet. The cost for these supplements is minimal
and can be managed.
Alternatively to the supplements fish containing these omega-3s can
be added into the menu on a more regular basis. Fish seems to have
fallen off the dinner table in much of the United States. Simply
adding it back in as a regular part of the family menu planning could
have a big effect on your family’s health and well being.
As always, when considering adding supplements to your dietary
schedule you should consult your physician as some supplements have an
adverse effect on some medications and can aggravate symptoms of some
medical conditions.
